10 FAQs Before a Massage

1. What should I wear to my massage appointment?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that’s easy to change in and out of. Most massages are done with the client undressed to their comfort level under a sheet, but you can always keep on whatever makes you feel at ease.

2. Should my hair be clean before the massage?
For services that include a scalp massage or use of oils, it’s actually better if your hair isn’t freshly washed. Natural oils help protect your scalp, and you may leave with a bit of oil in your hair afterward.

3. Is it normal to leave feeling oily or greasy?
Yes! If your massage includes oils, lotions, or scalp treatments, it’s totally normal to leave with some residue on your skin or hair. Many clients like to schedule massages when they can shower later at home.

4. Do I need to shower before my massage?
A quick rinse is great if it helps you feel fresh, but it’s not required. Your comfort is the priority.

5. Should I eat before my massage?
A light meal or snack is fine. It’s best to avoid heavy or greasy foods shortly before your session so you can relax comfortably.

6. Can I talk during the massage?
Absolutely—it’s up to you! Some people chat; others enjoy silence. Your therapist will follow your lead.

7. What if I feel ticklish or sensitive?
Just let your therapist know. Pressure, techniques, and areas of focus can all be adjusted to make you comfortable.

8. Do I need to remove jewelry?
It’s helpful to remove necklaces, watches, and large earrings so they don’t get in the way, but you can keep on anything sentimental or difficult to remove.

9. Will the therapist judge me for my body?
Not at all. Massage therapists work with all body types. Your comfort and relaxation are the focus—nothing else.

10. What if I fall asleep during the massage?
It happens all the time! Falling asleep is a sign that your body is relaxing, and it’s completely normal.

10 FAQs Before a Facial

1. What should I wear to my facial appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax. You’ll typically change into a spa wrap or be covered with towels/blankets, so anything easy to slip off or loosen is ideal.

2. Should my hair be clean before the facial?
No need! In fact, it’s often better if your hair isn’t freshly washed, since facial oils and scalp massages can leave your hair slightly oily. Most clients plan to wash their hair later.

3. Is it normal to leave looking shiny, greasy, or dewy?
Yes—totally normal! Facials use nourishing products, serums, and oils. Depending on the treatment, you may leave looking dewy or slightly greasy. This is actually beneficial for your skin.

4. Do I need to remove makeup before the facial?
Nope! Your esthetician will cleanse your skin thoroughly at the beginning. Come as you are.

5. Should I shower before my facial?
Not required. A facial focuses on your face and décolletage, so a pre-shower is optional and only for your own comfort.

6. Can I talk during the facial?
Yes—whatever you prefer. Some people love chatting; others enjoy quiet relaxation. Your esthetician will follow your lead.

7. Should I avoid certain skincare products before coming in?
If you use strong actives (like retinol or exfoliating acids), it’s usually recommended to avoid them 24–48 hours before your appointment unless advised otherwise.

8. Will my face be red afterward?
It can be! A little redness or warmth is normal, especially after extractions or exfoliation. It typically fades within a few hours.

9. What if I have sensitive skin?
Just let your esthetician know during intake. Treatments can always be customized with gentler products and techniques.

10. Can I wear makeup after my facial?
It’s best to avoid makeup for the rest of the day so your skin can breathe and absorb the products fully. Plan your appointment accordingly.vice you'd like to show.

10 FAQs Before a wax

1. What should I wear to my waxing appointment?
Wear loose, breathable clothing, especially for body or bikini waxes. Tight fabrics can irritate freshly waxed skin.

2. How long should my hair be for waxing?
Hair should be about ¼ inch long (roughly the length of a grain of rice). This ensures the wax can grip properly.

3. Should my hair be clean before waxing?
It doesn’t need to be freshly washed. Natural skin and hair oils are totally fine and can even make waxing slightly more comfortable.

4. Is it normal to leave feeling a bit sticky or greasy?
Yes! Your esthetician may apply oil or soothing lotion afterward to remove wax residue and calm the skin, so you may feel slightly shiny or greasy.

5. Does waxing hurt?
There is some quick, temporary discomfort, but it’s usually very manageable. The area tends to feel better within seconds.

6. Can I get waxed during my period?
Yes, you can—just know the area may be more sensitive. Wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you’re having a bikini service.

7. Should I exfoliate before my wax?
Light exfoliation 24 hours before helps prevent ingrown hairs. Avoid exfoliating the day of your appointment to prevent irritation.

8. How long will the results last?
Generally, waxing lasts 3–5 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle and the area being waxed.

9. What should I avoid after waxing?
For the first 24 hours, avoid sweating, hot showers, tanning, saunas, and tight clothing—anything that may irritate the skin.

10. Is redness or small bumps normal afterward?
Absolutely. Temporary redness, warmth, or small bumps are common and usually fade within a few hours.

10 FAQs Before an Airbrush Tan

1. What should I wear to my spray tan appointment?
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing after your session. Tight clothes or bras can rub the solution and cause uneven spots.

2. Should I shower right before my spray tan?
It’s best to shower, shave, and exfoliate at least 8–24 hours before your appointment. Showering immediately before can make your skin too slick for the solution to stick evenly.

3. Can I wear deodorant, lotion, or makeup?
Avoid deodorant, lotions, oils, perfumes, and makeup when you come in—these can block the spray and create uneven color.

4. Is it normal to feel a little sticky after my spray tan?
Yes! The solution sits on top of your skin while it develops, so you may feel sticky, tacky, or slightly greasy until you rinse.

5. How long do I need to wait before showering?
Most tans require 8 hours before rinsing, but rapid solutions may need only 2–4 hours. Your technician will tell you the exact timing.

6. What should I wear during the spray tan?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable with—a swimsuit, disposable underwear, or nothing. Just remember that whatever you wear will create tan lines.

7. How long will the spray tan last?
A typical spray tan lasts 5–10 days, depending on skin type, aftercare, and how often you moisturize.

8. Can I work out after getting sprayed?
Avoid sweating, working out, or getting wet until your first rinse, or the tan may streak or develop unevenly.

9. Will the spray tan stain my sheets or clothes?
There may be temporary transfer of the bronzer onto clothing or sheets before your first rinse. It usually washes out of most fabrics.

10. How can I make my spray tan last longer?
Moisturize daily, avoid long hot showers, pat (don’t rub) your skin dry, and stay away from harsh exfoliants or scrubs.
